We're excited to be launching our newest creative project/exploration! We've been invited by Anita Ratnam, along with Ketu Katrak, to be part of their Epic Women conference in Chennai, India in December 2012, and will be using our long-distance collaborative process to develop material for the work. Here's what we've got bubbling in our minds thus far:
(Un)Epic Wonder Women
Collaborating
through digital media and across distance, the Post Natyam Collective
uses live dance, spoken word, film and comic books to bring to life the
magical-yet-hard-hitting worlds of un-epic wonder women. Humor and
parody come to bear as the artists challenge, re-write and perform
notions of women that oscillate between the ordinary and mundane
travails of contemporary women juggling home, family and career and the
astounding and larger-than-life worlds of wonder women and super
heroines embroiled in epic battles between good and evil. Flipping
accepted narratives, the Collective challenges these binaries to find
the wonder in the mundane and the ordinary in the epic.
