Prum, it looks great! I love the multiplication and fragmentation as abstracted ways of representing the Skype call. The ways that you are playing with color saturation create connections between our different footage in ways that I did not see before -- for instance, the "gay gay gay" shirt and the Indian concrete floor beneath Sandra's feet now feel texturally related. Somehow this play also makes the variation in video quality into an aesthetic statement rather than simply feeling inconsistent. Beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I'm not sure about is the first little Skype window that appears in my opening clapping. It seems to cut off my hands underneath in a way that feels a little distracting, and somehow also draws attention to my crotch, as that's the only unobstructed part of the picture.
Dear Prum, wow, lots of work! Its great! And I agree with Cynthia about the play with color and saturation is really working with the variation in video quality, making it real interesting!!
ReplyDeleteI actually like the little window coming in in the beginning, though I agree with the placement and it drawing attention to the crotch. If that cant be helped I would probably prefer it without.
I also miss the addition of the feet in a clear horizontal line, before the angles all mix up- the head-torso-feet image was one of my favorite moments and made sense in terms of letting the accumulation settle for me as a viewer. Thats the only part I miss though! Other than that its really exciting
